It's difficult for Australia to break new ground.

The greatest achievements have long been mastered.

We're talking about the team that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, plus an additional six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed over three years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, targeted by the record chasers, are what's still available for a squad that has won it all.

That it took as late as Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase over 300, regaining their record for the largest in the women's 50-over format, is, honestly, a testament to the pitchers that have worn canary yellow over five decades.

It's difficult for their batters to possess a record if never given the opportunity.

Finally, the result of Australia allowing 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy getting a platform to produce her most recent brilliance.

Originally famous as the 19-year-old niece of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after her country didn't secure either of the T20 or ODI World Cups conducted earlier and has seen it all through 15 successful years since.

A T20 championship victory happened three months after her debut and seven global championships have resulted from 10 attempts across formats.

The tough gloveman was also there in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India briefly halted the run of success.

That loss "pushed us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy stated recently.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the title decider and was named player of the tournament. She guaranteed her country would not come up short.

Whether this recent magnificent innings surpassed that earlier display can be debated.

Many contend the argument supporting the pressure of a final. Others can counter with the challenge that comes when confronting a historic chase and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's clear is this ton was considerably tougher to see coming.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 came as she led the batting statistics, but this performance came after six matches in India since the start of last month in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"For those following me in training, it has been a challenging time because it appeared I lacked timing completely," commented Healy.

"But once you take the field, your fighting spirit activate and you just lock into the match."

Healy's competitive nature has continuously been her key asset - and an irreplaceable characteristic in taking over from iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, fallen to the 22-year-old seamer in each encounter, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's spark.

A single came off the opening delivery and after that the batsman was in motion.

"An opportunity to go out there and engage in competition with her and simply enjoy myself in that regard, sort of got me going," stated Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 pitches - her quickest at a World Cup - and her hundred in 84 as she attacked short-pitched balls, striking 21 boundaries and three maximums.

When she was dismissed the team needed 66 additional runs at a run-a-ball - an achievable target now demanding an easy conclusion.

"Pursuing 330 is uncharted waters so I'm happy we have the belief to do that now," added Healy.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to repeat it but, if we do, we know we can succeed."

That comment will be the final thing Australia's opponents at this championship need to hear.

Over the past five days a sense they will triumph from any situation has grown stronger - this victory succeeding win against Pakistan by 107 run margin despite sitting at 76-7 at one point.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a match against longtime competitors England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a last-four spot may probably be guaranteed.

During that phase they left the prior year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a game Healy was absent due to ruptured tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the initial instance at an important competition.

So great is her will, she afterwards commented she regretted not playing with the discomfort.

Yet even as she afterwards confessed those injuries have delayed thoughts of retirement, this tournament is likely to be her concluding event as leader in ODI cricket and she is hasn't yet secured a world championship as skipper.

Success in India would take her to the summit of her last major obstacle.
